Public Health and Nutrition
Public health deals with variety of food and nutrition related issues. There is increasing need to focus on community in the perspective of health promotion and disease prevention. The increasing movement towards using community approach requires research which focuses on nutrition for promotion of good health and on prevention of diseases.
In this vision, public health nutrition includes factors as education, coping skills, support systems, knowledge, attitude and practice, access to health care, hygiene and sanitation, malnutrition, agriculture and food production, economic depression, chronic diseases, child care and school based meals etc.
Evaluation of the nutrition policy and effective implementation of these policies is challenge in our country.
APRF will promote nutrition related health promotion strategies. Primary data on role of nutrition in prevention of diseases will be available for epidemiologists for the research studies.
